The people of Egypt claim that the head of al-Husayn is buried in their land, and the people of Iraq have a mosque which they call al-Mashhad al-Husayni. I do not know how true that is. Where is the grave of al-Husayn according to the soundest scholarly views?
Praise be to Allaah.
Al-Husayn (may Allaah be pleased with him) was killed in
Iraq, in Muharram, 61 AH. His body was buried in Iraq. As far as the
claim that his head was taken to Egypt and buried there is concerned,
I know of no basis for that. This was denied by some of the scholars.
The fact that you do not know about that does not matter. What is prescribed
for you and for other Muslims is simply to pray that Allaah will be
pleased with him – and with all the other Companions of the Prophet
(peace and blessings of Allaah
be upon him). May Allaah be pleased with them all.
And Allaah is the source of strength. May Allaah bless
our Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions, and grant them peace.
