Working in an automobile repair shop for insurance companies

Im working as manager for an automobile workshop in Dubai. I am entitled to a monthly salary and a yearly percentage incentive We mainly repair damaged cars from insurance companies, so i closely work with insurance companies very closely. I understand that commercial insurance and working in insurance companies are prohibited. is it permissible to work with insurance companies as a supplier?.

What appears to be the case is that it is permissible to work in an automobile repair shop for insurance companies, because repairing is permissible work and it is permissible to engage in permissible work with one whose wealth is haraam.

The evidence concerning that is the fact that the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and his Companions dealt with the Jews and mushrikeen, buying and selling and so on, although their wealth was not free of haraam elements.

We put this question to Shaykh Dr. ‘Abd ar-Rahmaan ibn Saalih al-Atram (may Allah preserve him) and he replied that it is permissible and gave the same reason as mentioned above.

Based on that, there is nothing wrong with you working as a manager for a repair shop that deals with insurance companies.

But with regard to working in the insurance company itself, that is not permissible because commercial insurance is haraam; this has been discussed previously in the answer to question no. 113924.
